Besides psychological causes of insomnia, there are also other culprits to the sleeping disorder. Most often than not, it may also have something to do with the functions of the body. These are oftentimes termed physiologically-related insomnia causes.
Physiological related insomnia comes from the irregularities of the sleep-wake pattern and the biological clock. Most of the disorders related in this insomnia cause category include too much pain most of the time. Let us try to categorize things accordingly. Let us also know what pain is all about.
Pain- the first physiological related insomnia cause
Pain is commonly associated with a certain medical condition. This is why chronic pain syndromes are considered to be a physiological related insomnia cause. At its onset, it is known to be acute. During this stage, the pain should be addressed immediately or else it may turn intense. In treating pain, you must consider the following:
• Why pain worsens. The brain is a distributor of pain indicators via the nerve structures that are responsible in sending out stimulus to the brain. In some instances, even if your existing injury or condition is not getting worse, your mind dictates that it is painful. This in turn makes the situation chronic.
• Treatment goal. Your aim in seeing a physician is to be treated of whatever is the cause of your pain. This is in order for you to continue leading a regular way of life – less the medications and time consuming appointments with your physician.
• Extent of the treatment. Unluckily, there are numerous ailments that have no known remedy like diabetes and hypertension. These illnesses which are associated to chronic pain require a lifelong medication.
• Possibilities of addiction. It is just normal that a life-long medication is administered to individuals with illnesses that require regular treatment. This is not considered an addiction, so much so with chronic pain. If you are taking in medication for your pain on a regular basis and as long as you live, you must not be tagged as an addict because your body needs it.
• Use of medication. There are pain medications like narcotics that are not recommended by some physicians because it can lead to addiction. This kind of drug is recommended only for cancer patients who could not withstand the pain they feel.
Other physiological insomnia causes
Aside from pain, the following conditions are usually associated with insomnia as well:
• Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. This is a kind of physiological disorder that is related to insomnia with no identified cause, though it may be linked to prior infection. It is a kind of constant exhaustion that manages to survive with no description for several months. It is supplemented by cognitive complexities like short-live memory.
• Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD). This is a condition that affects the esophagus due to irritation or inflammation that is backed-up by acid in the stomach.
• Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). This is a kind of long-term disorder that inhibits the airways. This takes place in individual with chronic bronchitis and emphysema.
There are other medical conditions which lead to insomnia. In most of these situations, pain is always associated as it lingers in the body. This bothers a person’s intention to get enough sleep at night. These insomnia causes should be cured with proper doctor consultation.
