It comes in capsules with different strengths ranging in multiples of 7.5 mg. The capsules go as high as 30 mg. Patients are required to take at least a 15-mg capsule 30 minutes before bedtime though some may take it at 7.5 mg.

• Contraindications. If you are using medications such as itraconazole, there is a tendency that the effects of temazepam increases thus leading to oversleeping. The same is true if you take-in alcohol and other drugs to cure sleepiness. If you are using oral contraceptives, the effects of temazepam in the body may be reduced thus leading you to more problems on the lack of sleep.

• Warnings. Pregnant women are not advised to use the drug as it may result to fetal death or damage especially when ingested during the first three months of the conception. There are no studies supporting its usage by nursing mothers as well.

• Side Effects. Just like other sedatives, this drug may also lead to some adverse reactions. The most common complaints heard from patients include dizziness, weakness and excessive sleepiness. Feelings of depression and the occurrence of other sleeping disorders may also happen. Headache as well as loss of concentration or focus is also linked to the use of temazepam. If you are planning to stop the usage of the drug, make sure that you do it gradually or else you may have seizures, tremors, vomiting or muscle cramping.
